First Look: Honey Pies, Opening Friday

We have been eagerly anticipating the opening of our favorite pie maker, Honey Pies, to open up since they announced their brick and mortar back in May. Following an inspection this afternoon they are approved and will be up and going tomorrow with additional items slowly adding in the days to come.
“We are so excited to get the doors open and bring people in,” owner Sharon Woodson tells us. “It has been a lot of work to get to this point, but it is worth it.”
The location, located at 315 N. Bowman Road, will allow Honey Pies to think beyond the pies they have become known for over the past year. Expect to see a long list of additional items like muffins, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, meringue cookies, cream puffs, pastries and more. Woodson says she is open for trying even more items beyond that.

“Most of the items we will be rotating through initially will be things that people have told us they would like to see,” Woodson says. “We have been working to perfect a lot of these recipes and we are looking forward to trying new things.”
In addition Honey Pies is setting up an 8 flavor ice cream dipping cabinet serving Loblolly ice cream, giving a great western location for people who are fans of the Green Corner Store Loblolly spot. Woodson says she hopes to eventually add pint options as well for people to take to go. The shop will also have pour over coffee available and they are working on their own private label using Levia’s coffee.

“We love the work Levia’s does to support coffee growers in Guatemala. That type of mission is very important to us,” Woodson says. “We are working to make an additional donation to No Kid Hungry a part of every coffee we sell once we have the private label going to extend the effort even further.”
Finally the shop will have space for a number of items from local artisans such as Geri’s Jelly, Me and McGee Produce, and LK Rustic Market.
Honey Pies will hold a soft opening tomorrow from 11-7, then open weekly Tuesday – Saturday 11 – 7.
