This Year's Taste of Little Breaks Records for Scholarship Money Raised, Samantha's Wins Best of Taste

UA Little Rock Alumni Association kicked off the 15th annual Taste of Little Rock at the Stephens Center on Thursday, gathering hundreds of guests ready to sample the best restaurants in Little Rock. With over 40 restaurants participating, guests had many different choices, including ice cream from Loblolly, cupcakes from Honey Pies, salads from Trio’s Restaurant, gumbo from Rebel Kettle, barbecue from Whole Hog Café, and small pops from Le Pops. Little Rock favorites Petit & Keet, Star of India, Kemuri, and The Faded Rose also created special small plates for the event.
This year, the Taste of Little Rock honored Alfred Williams and Elaine Eubank, both UA Little Rock graduates, for their lifetime of support to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Both champions of scholarships for students at UA Little Rock, the Taste of Little Rock raised funds for the UA Little Rock Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, which awards students several different scholarships worth up to $5,000.
This year’s event raised a total of $138,124.98 for student scholarships, breaking records for the most raised at a Taste of Little Rock event.

“We are thrilled to honor Alfred and Elaine for their dedication, passion, and support of students at UA Little Rock,” said Andrea Angel, associate vice chancellor for alumni and development. “They have a legacy of giving within their family that has positively impacted hundreds of students at our university. The Alumni Association would not be as strong as it is today without the work of these two devoted alumni.”
In addition to raising money, however, the Taste of Little Rock raised the stakes this year, giving the guests the ability to award one restaurant the Best of Taste. Each guest received a small token to help crown the winner, but guests were also able to purchase more tokens to make their favorite more likely to win.
For Taste of Little Rock 2018, Samantha’s Tap Room took first with their jumbo lump crab on orzo pilaf with sautéed asparagus and smoked cream butter. Trio’s Restaurant and Le Pops took second and third respectively.
