Last week we kicked off our Reader Picks series looking for what you all think are the best sandwiches in Little Rock. Nearly 100 entrees later, it is clear that you all love some sandwiches.
We decided to break this up into most recommended restaurants and most recommended individual sandwiches. There are some places like Boulevard Bread Co that had a lot of individual sandwiches named, but no clear favorite among them.
Nostalgia for Hillcrest Artisan Meats (H.A.M.) also seemed the order of the day. H.A.M makes some of the best sandwiches in town, and easily dominated the best location and sandwich categories, especially after announcing that they would close after the first of the year. I suspect this list would look much different a year from now. There was also a lot of love for the spots that have been around for a bit, Jimmy’s Serious Sandwiches as well as their (very long ago) award winning sandwich, the Garden, was recommended a lot. We even had one submission for the Philly Cheesesteak from Rocky’s Pub in North Little Rock that has been closed for several years now. Hopefully we will see the long awaited return of that spot in 2017.

“I could eat 2 garden sandwiches (from Jimmy’s Serious Sandwiches) at each visit! That pumpernickel, that melted cheese spread, the sprouts, the shrooms (the only time canned mushrooms are acceptable). Which wich makes a great sandwich and has many great options for vegetarians. “The Boaz (from Desiacs Sandwiches) is two hamburger patties sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Some may call it a burger, but it’s not. It’s a godsend to those with an appetite for food, pain, and pleasure. It’s a sandwich that sandwich lovers should pursue. A mecca of bread and meat.
