Heifer Partners with Local Restaurants for World Food Day

Heifer International has had a strong impact on hunger worldwide since it moved the headquarters to Little Rock in the early 1970s. Over the past several years the organization has worked to increase their cooperation with the surrounding Little Rock area by both including them in the organization’s missions and supporting the local community.
Their latest effort, World Food Day, is a great example of working on both fronts.
Heifer is partnering with local restaurants for a single day event on October 16 to raise funds to support worldwide hunger relief missions by having the partner restaurants donate 10% of their revenue that day back to Heifer.
“It is a great way to connect with the local community by getting them into local restaurants for a good cause,” event organizer Chase Carmichael says. “It helps us raise awareness and money while allowing people to experience great food.”
Restaurants confirmed so far include At the Corner, Capeo, Rebel Kettle, Cathead’s Diner, Doe’s, Sonny Williams,  Boulevard Bread Co., Trio’s, All Aboard, Lost Forty Brewing, Soul Fish Cafe, and Loblolly. More are expected to be added soon.
In exchange for the donation, Heifer is working to promote the participating restaurants before, during, and after the event to increase business and revenue for the restaurants. It is the type of collaboration that becomes a win for everyone involved.
Rock City Eats is proud to get involved with the promotion as well. You will see us highlight participating restaurants leading up to the day to raise awareness of the event and the participants. Heifer will additionally use their resources to promote the event and restaurants as well.
If you are a restaurant interested in participating, email Chase.Carmichael@heifer.org to sign up.
