First Look: Core Brewing Taproom in Argenta

If you’re getting a little hoppy waiting for Springdale’s Core Brewing Co. to finally open their doors in Rock City, it’s time to raise your glass in celebration. The new public house will officially be serving up brews at 411 N. Main Street tomorrow during their soft opening.

We checked in with owner Jesse Core last fall when he made the announcement for an Argenta location. The team searched long and heard for a neighborhood with foot traffic and a scene. Pub/Market Manager Erin Vickers says, “We’re really excited to be a part of Argenta. It’s a tight little family down here – everyone definitely takes care of each other.”

After stepping inside, you’re met with a bright, open space filled with a laid-back vibe – plus there’s a patio out back. There’s an area for games and plenty of TV’s ensuring you won’t miss March Madness. The brewery’s mascot Barney the wiener dog can be found throughout the space, in paintings along the wall and as decoration on the lofted space above the door.

Jay Richardson, Core’s Director of Marketing, says, “The goal is for people to come in and get a feel for the Argenta area, which is nice and cool and relaxed. … We want people to walk in and just decompress.”

The new pub is equipped with 12 tapheads, a chalked menu easily identifiable on the back wall. The space will also be a hub for live music on the weekends – Chris Cameron will be kicking things off tomorrow.

The Argenta location marks the company’s seventh in the state, and the brewery doesn’t plan to stop there. Richardson says, “We hope to have ten locations by the end of the year … We’re looking to go into Hot Springs, we definitely want another one here in this area, and we’d really like to get out somewhere East.”

Although the new tasting room won’t have a specialty menu, patrons can buy hotdogs onsite and are also encouraged to bring food with them. Vickers says, “We do have our neighbors menus,” and Richardson adds, “What we’ve found to be really good for us is to partner with neighbor restaurants – it goes really well.”
