Core Brewing SoMa set to Open on Friday

Core Brewing’s new SOMA Public House is set to open this Friday. The space will mark the second location for Core in the Little Rock are and third in Central Arkansas (the other in Hot Springs).
The SOMA location will feature 12 tap handles filled with rotating Core beer. The space is divided into two areas, a main area and a loading dock section. The main area will be familiar to those who have frequented the Argenta spot and will add a stage to the mix for live music. They will also feature a classic video game corner for some serious Mario Cart action.
In the back is where the SOMA location shines though. It is setup like more of an indoor patio with various activities like ping pong to play while you sip on your blood orange IPA, along with some patio furniture. It will be a great addition and provide an all weather patio for the space. The rest of the area will be used during the day as a storage area to serve as their distribution arm for central Arkansas.
Food wise, Core is switching to food from Foghorn’s which is based out of Fayetteville. They will bring wings and other dishes into Core making it their first foray into Central Arkansas. It should also help stabilize the food for all the Core Public Houses that have a wide variety (and sometimes lack) of kitchen space to use.
In more ways than one, this space will end up being Core’s flagship spot. The Argenta location, which is staying open, got off to a rough start and then has struggled to attract the solid audience they experience at other locations. The SOMA location fits Core better and the space is much better out of the gate.
As a SOMA area resident myself, I think it is great for the area and fits what is happening along South Main better than the Argenta location fit that community. It is a perfect hangout spot before and after meals when it is still too early to hit up midtown. There is also talk at distilling spirits and doing some small batch on-site brewing here in the future, which would be a fantastic addition if it happens.
Core SOMA opens tomorrow with an opening party at 6. They will have music, food, and of course beer. After that expect to see some St. Patrick’s day themed activities over the weekend.
