There are a lot of things to take seriously in a restaurant. Food quality, cleanliness, service, along with all the other business aspects. Then there are cocktails, and cocktails need to always have a fun spirit and an overall sense of enjoyment.
It is something South on Main has really been doing well since Sarah Harrington took over the bar program, and Co-Owner Amy Bell has become more of a fixture behind the bar. Their Tuesday night Tiki specials are the single best happy hour experience in all of Little Rock for example.
It is no surprise when that spirit finds its way to the seasonal cocktail menus.
This time around you find drinks like Goodbye Earl, the Reverend Graham, and the Burning Bush among some of the new drinks to hit the bar.
The flavors keep with the fun and entertaining spirit as well.
Goodbye Earl is another Earl Gray tea infusion drink that will likely be wildly popular. They infuse the tea in vodka, then add honey, grapefruit, and a touch of lemon. It is light and refreshing, while still bringing in a strong sense of fall.
For an even deeper sense of fall, check out the Reverend Graham. It is a bit more spirit heavy with a bourbon base. It adds rancio sec, amaro, and a touch of graham cracker. Ask for a toasted marshmallow for a very s’more-like cocktail.
Also new is the Ciruela Sour. It is sort of a tequila take on a whiskey sour with plum and lime shaken up with an egg white. It is creamy, colorful, and a very solid overall cocktail.
The best on the menu for the spirit focused drinker has to be the Mezcal Negroni however. It is exactly what you think with a mezcal base, cocchi rosa, and aperol. It is a unique twist on one of our all time favorite classics.
Other new cocktails to look out for are a couple of mule-esk drinks in the El Diablo and Dark and Stormy, a strong seasonal flavor with the Autumn Cobbler, and the return of a few favorites in the Burning Bush, Blackberry Bramble, and El Presidente.
