Flyway Brewing is celebrating the first week of truly warm Arkansas weather with the release of its classic Saison Avifaune. This is the third release for this 5.8 percent ABV farmhouse-style ale that is allowed to ferment at room temperature. This is a fruity, malty saison that can change its characteristics based on how the fermentation process goes. The name “Avifaune” means birds of a particular region, habitat or geological period, keeping with Flyway’s bird-based naming brand. This was one of my favorite beers last year when it was first released, and you should absolutely make plans to pick it up this Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Lost Forty Brewing today continues its Summer Forecast IPA series with its second batch release. Summer Forecast is the brewery’s name for its ongoing recipe experimentation with IPAs. Expect all kinds of different IPA styles and influences under this name. Batch #2 is a 6.3 percent ABV ale that goes with fruity, juicy hops instead of a bitter profile. Expect flavors of pineapple, mango, papaya and other tropical fruits. Because this is a pilot batch series, Summer Forecast is only available by the glass at the taproom. If you want to check it out, it goes on tap today at 4 p.m.
Rebel Kettle this week has a brew coming out that hasn’t been on tap in more than two years. Business Casual Nitro Coffee Stout is Rebel Kettle’s 4:30 Thursday release. Business Casual is brewed with Kenyan coffee roasted by Guillermo’s Gourmet Coffee. It features plenty of coffee and chocolate flavors with some caramel and floral notes, and ends with a creamy, rich finish. It will be fun to see how this one has changed since its initial release in 2016. It’s on tap at 4:30 p.m. this Thursday.
Stone’s Throw Brewing is reviving a classic Old World-style recipe for its #NewBrewFriday release. It’s the return of Balarama Black Peppercorn Saison. This one is a classic European saison brewed with black peppercorns and fermented with wild yeast from Dunbar Garden. The name Balarama comes from the Hindu god of farming and fertility; Stone’s Throw gave it that name because black peppercorns originated in India. Balarama Black Peppercorn Saison goes on tap Friday starting at 4 p.m.
And we told you last week that Moody Brews Aria’s Bier was ready to go but waiting on a tap to open up at Vino’s Brewpub. I stopped in yesterday to find that Josiah is still waiting on a tap to open. So get to Vino’s and drink something, will ya? Coincidentally, you can currently find Gravity BrewWorks’s Falling Star ESB at Vino’s, which you should be ordering anyway because it’s delicious.
