What is different here is the chance to dine in one of Little Rock’s historic mansions while doing it, and this being the start of an ongoing effort by the 1836 Club to give back to the community in a big way.
This event is working in coordination with Our House which is a wonderful local organization that provides workforce and life skills to individuals experiencing homelessness along with housing, case management, and children’s programs. For this event, Ben E Keith Foods and Colonial wines have donated all the food and wine so 100% of the proceeds go to support Our House.
“This is a really great opportunity for the club to get out and make a difference in people’s lives,” 1836 Club executive chef Philip Immekus says. “We were able to put forward an extremely aggressive menu, and we think it will be one of the most rewarding ways for people to give back to the community this year.”
The chef lineup features chefs Cody Rudd of SO restaurant, Casey Copeland of The Avenue, Amanda Ivy of Sauced, Joshua Hays of The Athletic Club, James Harris from Baptist Health, and Philip Immekus and Jon Nayles both from the 1836 Club. The dinner will be seven courses featuring dishes you can’t find anywhere else.
The 1836 Club says this week’s dinner is just the start. They want to start a regular pattern of special dinners and events that give back to the community in a strong way. It is a great position for a private club whose membership includes some of the biggest names in business and politics throughout the entire state and region. They have the way to impact organizations in a huge way.
However this event, and most of the ones to come, are not exclusive to just club members. It is open for anyone who wants to come to see the club, which is the last of the houses on the historic mansion row in Little Rock. The event is also priced less than some similar dinners at $150 a ticket, so it is slightly more approachable than some others and maintains a direct local benefit for those in need.
Tickets can be purchased by calling Our House at 501-374-7383 or online here.
