Sampling The Secret Menu: Flyway Brewing Edition

Take a tour with us around town as we explore all the secret menu items that have a cult following of their own.

Usually, I’m the one to argue that breweries shouldn’t have to have a food menu to survive, but at this very moment, I’m particularly thankful that Flyway Brewing Company in Argenta offers good eats to the masses.

Specifically, I’m crushing on the Tofu Sliders.

Since rolling out the iteration of their first menu in the summer of 2016, Flyway has been at the top of my list of tofu-providers around town. In fact, I constantly come back to the brewery as a premier location to take any out-of-towners that will let me, just so I can blow their mind with how good the tofu actually is.

Co-owner Jess McMullen developed the specially marinated teriyaki tofu recipe over time with help from his wife, Tina. If you’ve ever had tofu and thought it was bland, you haven’t had the kind that’s prepared properly – like what you’ll get at Flyway.

These sliders are flavorful, juicy, and exactly what you need alongside the Migrate Pale Ale.

If you’re already a fan of the sliders and order them regularly, you’re probably used to getting them on a baguette. And, while there’s nothing wrong with that, there’s a definite way to upgrade your meal.

A coveted secret menu item, ordering the sliders with the pretzel bun will take your taste buds to the next level. The salty, stick-to-your-ribs pretzel bun complements the tangy tofu.

Since upgrading the menu, the tofu is a little longer than the pretzel buns, so it hangs off a bit. We don’t think that’s enough of a reason to keep from ordering it, however. The sticky, delectable result is exactly what you were craving without even knowing it.

Order one next time and let us know how it tastes.
