It should come as no surprise that the Mabelvale community is rallying around Three Sams BBQ Joint in a big way. The restaurant was destroyed in a fire two weeks ago, and to keep the business going, Three Sams has begun serving its barbecue out of food trucks in front of the business. So far, they haven’t been able to keep up with demand, selling out each time. If you want to show your support, or just get some really good food, Three Sams will have the food trailers running again this Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting at 10:45 a.m.
Bourbon and Boots will hold its regular Tales From the South event for April at Rock Town Distillery, and the roster is impressive. In addition to Rock Town cocktails, guests will enjoy food from Slader’s Alaska Dumpling Co., The Southern Gourmasian, Fathead BBQ and Loblolly Creamery. The guest speaker is Kevin Delaney, the public face of the Museum of Discovery who gained fame after several appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Tickets for the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. You can buy advance tickets here.
Stone’s Throw Brewing is changing up their schedule a bit. The brewery is now open on Tuesdays and will feature Beast food truck to go with your brew. On Sundays they are adding Southern Gourmasian as the brunch option. Be sure to also check out their latest beer collaboration with Moody Brews, Vinos, and Dunbar garden.
The opening of the new delicatessen at Bruno’s Little Italy has been delayed. Originally slated to open April 18, heavy rains in March poured into the space through some leaks in the roof, causing widespread damage to the walls and floors. The grand opening is now at least a month away, though no official date has been set.
Dave & Busters is set to open its 84th location in June at The Outlets of Little Rock. For those not familiar with the chain, it’s a combination of a restaurant and entertainment complex, featuring arcade games, simulators and dozens of televisions for sports fans. You can get an idea of the food that will be offered by checking out their menu.
If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about beermaking and its history, you won’t want to miss a special course that Pulaski Technical College’s Culinary Institute is putting on. On April 30, Josiah Moody will teach a special class on cask-conditioned ale and how you can add ingredients to bring out new flavors in the beer. Tickets are $30, which includes the cost of admission for the upcoming Firkin Fest where the beer from this class will be served.
La Madeleine has announced its Little Rock grand opening will be Thursday, April 21, and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We’ve got the full details on the grand opening here.

April 16th Any Excuse to Party at Kent Walker Artisan Cheese – The folks at Kent Walker Artisan Cheese wanted to throw a party, no reason needed. The party features Bob Livingston playing some sweet tunes, food from The Southern Gourmasian, Hot Rod Wieners, Katmandu MoMo, & Loblolly Creamery, and a number of local craft beers.
April 16th Traditional Pie Bake-Off – It’s the second annual edition of this pie competition at The Root Cafe. Last year, 16 contestants competed, with Ken Dempsey coming out as the winner. Pre-registration is suggested but not required.
April 16th Cooking With Cast Iron – Eggshells Kitchen Company is hosting a series of 30-minute workshops focusing on how to cook with cast iron and how to care for your skillet. The event is free and will run at least four times on Saturday.
April 21st Diamond Chef Arkansas Recut – The popular culinary competition returns to Pulaski Tech’s culinary school, pitting six local chefs and culinary instructors against one another in an Iron Chef-style competition. Attendees will be treated to hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while watching the action. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
April 21st RCE’s Truckin’ Thursdays – Rock City Eats is launching our monthly food truck meet next Thursday at Bryant First Methodist Church (same place as Trucksgiving). The meet will run from 5-7 every third Thursday of the month. This month we have Beast Food Truck, Fork in the Road, Rick’s Beignets, Green Cart Deli, The WunderBus, Honey Pies, The New Cheesecake Company, Kincaids Coffee and Crave.
April 23rd International Food Festival – Get a taste of food from around the world at this special event at the Islamic Center of Little Rock. Admission to the event is free. In addition to the food, there will be activities for children and other entertainment.
April 28th Table 28 Surf-n-Turf Wine Dinner – This four-course wine dinner promises to show off some of chef Scott Rains’ talent in presenting some unique dishes. Tickets are $90 per person, and reservations are strongly recommended. Call (501) 224-2828 to reserve your seats.
April 30th Wild Wines Festival – This massive fundraiser for the Arkansas Zoological Foundation will feature food from 50 restaurants and more than 200 bottles of wine to sample from O’Looney’s Wine & Liquor.
