Far East Asian Cuisine is closed. Honestly, I’m not sure when this all went down, but we were informed by a reader of its demise, and a phone call to the former restaurant kicked back a “this number is no longer in service.” Not to hit a place when it’s down, but my one and only visit to Far East over a year ago wasn’t meant with favorable results.
More bad news … the Kroger on Shackleford Road in Little Rock is closing on February 28th. As many of you have mentioned across social media, this store has been on the decline for quite some time, and I’m guessing the threat of larger/newer competing stores in the area was finally just too much to bear. I’ll say this much, while the produce sucked, it sure was a nice spot to get gas.
Sunrise Café Boutique at 11525 Cantrell Road, Space 407 is open. “Sunrise Cafe Boutique is an Argentinan style coffee shop, created for sharing the culture and likes of Argentina.”
Boneheads out in WLR opened its doors on February 14th. Here’s a brief look at what to expect from the latest restaurant located in the Promenade. If you had a chance to check out the new place over the weekend, please let us know how it went.
Crawfish season has arrived! The folks over at The Faded Rose have you covered with the best mudbugs in town. Here’s a look back at a post I wrote last year featuring this Little Rock institution.
Damgoode Pies on Kavanaugh just had a major announcement: “Big announcement Damgooders! The Kavanaugh location will be closed for renovations starting on Monday, Feb 23. After 14 years of service, our little building needs some real love…and draft beer. The crew will head downtown to help us open Damgoode Pies River Market.” No word on how long this location will be closed for renovations.
Major props to South on Main for making Business Insider’s The Best Restaurant in Every State list. It’s so well deserved, as the SoMa restaurant continues to crank out excellent food and drinks in an awesomely cool setting.
With the announcement that its products will be sold in the new Whole Foods Market, how can you not be anything but happy for Sally Mengel and Co. over at Loblolly Creamery? “It is exciting to announce that they will be carrying all our signature flavors from Salted Caramel to Rocktown Bourbon Pecan.”
Finally, an Update on The Southern Gourmasian: If you remember The Southern Gourmasian was targeting two weeks ago as an update as well as a special Valentine’s Day dinner. According to co-owner Pat Beaird final inspections are holding up the launch of the restaurant. No time frame is set right now for the open, but will happen very shortly following sign-off by the city inspectors.
