We’re less than one week away from the grand opening of David’s Burgers in the River Market. On Tuesday, David’s Burgers will open its eighth location for lunch and dinner service six days a week (all David’s locations are closed on Sundays). I stopped by to talk with owner David Allan Bubbus yesterday, and the location is practically done. All that’s left is putting a few booths together and moving some equipment into place before the final inspection. Bubbus tells me he’s been training the staff for the River Market location in North Little Rock. After this opening, Bubbus has three more locations in the works in Bryant, Benton and another location in Conway.
If you missed it yesterday, our big news of the week is Hillcrest Artisan Meats closing for good at the end of 2016. Tomas Bohm of The Pantry and Pantry Crest is purchasing the space and plans to turn it into a deli in 2017. It brings an end to one of the city’s finest food spots, one that will doubtlessly be missed.
It’s been a little over a year since Sweet Candy + Gifts opened in The Outlets of Little Rock, but already the store is on the move. Owner Stephanie Harris will be moving her candy shop to the Heights neighborhood, just a block east of Heights Taco and Tamale Co. The move will give Harris the freedom to expand some of her product line and to host parties and events in a private party room. The location at The Outlets will stay open until the day after Christmas, so you should still head there to pick up some holiday gifts for your loved one with a sweet tooth.
Speaking of sweetness this holiday season, Little Rock’s Izard Chocolate has teamed up with Chef Shuttle for easy delivery of special holiday boxes. The gifts come in $30, $50 and $100 levels and include a variety of chocolate bars and caramels. Orders for Izard Chocolate holiday boxes must be placed by Dec. 17 for delivery between Dec. 22 and Dec. 24.
Congratulations go to Ciceley McDowell on the first year of business for her North Little Rock restaurant Ceci’s Chicken and Waffles. Ceci’s opened at the end of November in 2015 and proceeded to offer one of the best soul food menus in town (as well as one of the best hot sauces you can find). Ceci’s is open for lunch seven days a week as well as brunch on weekends.
Taco Beer Burrito, the Tex-Mex restaurant from Blue Canoe Brewing Company, is adjusting its hours. TBB will no longer be open on Mondays, instead opening for lunch and dinner six days per week (on weekdays, the restaurant shuts down in between meal services). TBB is also working on a new menu and adding weekly specials to its lineup.
