Rumbles: Core Comes to South Main, Upcoming Festivals, 42's Transition Inches Closer, Hot Springs Restaurant Closing, Free Pizza at Raduno

Core Brewing Adds South Main Public House – We have been sitting on this one a bit waiting for the space to take shape, but it appears the word is starting to leak out. Core Brewing is adding a second Public House in the Little Rock area, this one going in SOMA at 1214 Main Street. Location wise this is going to be a much better fit than the Argenta space thanks to a strong after work crowd in the area and less competition at their price point. Progress is happening rapidly and we expect to have a preview in a few weeks.
Cornbread Festival This Weekend – On the topic of SOMA, one of the best events of the year is always the Cornbread Festival. It runs from 11-4 this Saturday and takes up the blocks from South Main to the Root (13-15th Street). Come out for a great time.
Festival of Darkness – Not so coincidentally after Cornbread Festival is The Festival of Darkness. Lost Forty is expanding their annual festival to their neighbors and friends in the brewing industry, having almost every brewery in the city represented, plus a few friends from NWA and out of state. The festival is also the release of their annual Nighty Night beer, which IMO is the best beer they release every year. There are a ton of Halloweenish activities with the event, full list here.
Arktoberfest – It is not often I get back down to Arkadelphia after serving my 4 years in college there, but the annual beer and food festival, Arktoberfest, has always been a good reason. This year has gone a little under the radar with a ton of competing festivals and dropping the food competition portion that we usually sponsor. It is still always a great time for those of you willing to make the journey, festival runs from 12-10 next Saturday, Oct 28th.
Forty Two Dinner Opening Dates – I took a tour around the progress at Forty Two (soon to be known as 42 Bar and Table) yesterday. Things are progressing rapidly and they look on track for a November 2nd opening date. Do not let the quick turn around fool you though, the remodel is extensive. We will have more on that next week.
Hot Springs Closing – In some not as good news, Paradise Grill in Hot Springs closed their doors last week. The Airport road space opened just a little over a year ago and seemed to have a decent following of eaters, but it was not enough to keep it going. We have heard from several Hot Springs restaurant owners that this was a far worse than average tourism season, likely because of the relatively mild weather keeping people off the lakes. Fall is my personal favorite time to get out to Hot Springs, the normal crowds around the lake and Oaklawn are gone, and you can really enjoy the city. Not to mention the hills are beautiful with the changing leaves. Get out and support the local restuarants there.
Raduno Pizza by the Slice – Raduno has gone through some changes the past few weeks, one that should be a welcome addition is now offering pizza by the slice at lunch. Slice bars are all over the place in larger cities like New York, but are hard to find in Little Rock. To kick things off they have passed on a coupon for a free slice during the month of October. Take advantage of it.
Brewski’s Pub & Grub – We talked about this a few weeks ago in Rumbles, but Brewski’s, the sports bar that Club Level turned into, appears to have opened last week. We will try to stop in soon and give it a try. The space is at 315 Main, across from Samantha’s and Bruno’s.
Last Day to Nominate for Best Pies – Finally, we will wrap up our best pie nominations this afternoon before we head into the voting period. Already this is our largest Reader Pick’s to date. If you want your favorite pie to get voted on be sure to submit it before the end of the day today.
