New Coffee Bar Coming to Bryant from Owners of Mugs Cafe

Mugs Cafe in Argenta has long been one of our favorite coffee outposts since opening in July 2013. Over the past two years, we have watched the crowd at Mugs rapidly grow, and now Mugs is ready to expand south to Bryant with Speakeasy Coffee Bar.

Speakeasy Coffee Bar will be located at 3411 Main Street in Bryant, just south of Highway 5 next to Art of Men’s Cuts. Owner Michael Carpenter says the new coffee bar will take some of the best of Mugs and expand in many new directions.

“We want to focus more on the hand-crafted coffee aspect of Mugs Cafe. We will offer espresso drinks and pourovers,” Carpenter says. “We also want to feature a selection of local craft beers, which will be something brand new for us and the Bryant community.”

Along with coffee and craft beer, the 1,500 sq ft Speakeasy Coffee Bar will feature breakfast and lunch items. Breakfast will include steel-cut oatmeal served with brown sugar and fresh strawberries and blueberries, lox and cream cheese with bagels, along with Greek yogurt and fresh fruit.  Lunch will be a small selection of panini sandwiches like a Prosciutto and Date, Turkey Apple, and Tomato Tapenade, as well as the popular Smoked Salmon Club from Mugs. All served with chips.

Speakeasy Coffee Bar joins Arkansas Fresh Cafe, which opened earlier this year, in what might well be the beginnings of a local food surge in the Bryant area.

“We looked at other neighborhoods in LR/NLR to do another location. However, we already have a bit of a following in Saline County. We felt we could offer a boost to Bryant when it comes to good local eats and a good cup of coffee,” Carpenter says. “We are looking forward to getting to know the locals and becoming a part of the community.”

Speakeasy Coffee Bar is looking at a late spring/early summer open. We will update you with more information as plans and building progresses. Follow here for updates.
