It’s a pretty slow week for the beer scene, but there are still a few new releases to tell you about. It starts today at Lost Forty Brewing, where the Freshcut Monday release is the new Lemonade Cream Ale Shandy. A shandy is a beer mixed with a nonalcoholic beverage, and this one gets a hit of some lemonade the brew team squeezed fresh. It’s only 4 percent ABV, so this should be a light and refreshing brew. Obviously, squeezing lemons is a lot of work, which means this small batch shandy is only available by the glass at the taproom today.
Pairing menus are usually binary: one food item and one drink item per course. But tonight at Stone’s Throw, three unique flavors will make up each course at the Beer, Cigar and Ice Cream event with Loblolly Creamery and West End Cigars. The first course is Loblolly’s Honey Lavender Ice Cream with Caldwell King of the Dead cigar and Papa Geyser’s Imperial Pilsner. After that, it’s a Perdorno 20th Anniversary Maduro with Shamus Stout and Campfire S’Mores ice cream. The event starts at 8 p.m. tonight; tickets are still available for $55. Then for #NewBrewFriday, Stone’s Throw is releasing its Dry Spell Champagne Cider, a 5 percent ABV cider brewed with Champagne yeast for an extremely dry finish. That one releases Friday at 4 p.m.
There’s a brand new beer going on tap at Rebel Kettle for its 4:30 Thursday event. The taproom is releasing a session beer called Cash and Body Twerks. This one is a cucumber-watermelon farmhouse-style saison that Rebel Kettle infused with fresh cucumber slices and refermented on ripe watermelon puree (sounds like a perfect summer brew). You can check it out this Thursday.
And finally, if you’re in Clark County make sure to stop by Slate Rock Brewing in Amity. The brewery has released three new beers in addition to the four it started with when it first opened. We’ve already told you about the habanero IPA, and the taproom recently added Red Rock Point IPA and a new pale ale brewed with Wakatu hops. Slate Rock is only open on the weekend: from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
