Growlers: Football Beer Specials Around Town, Stone's Throw Spamalot Ale Release

Welcome to Growlers: your weekly roundup of news, events and specials from Little Rock’s breweries and taprooms. Little Rock’s beer scene is growing and improving at a rapid pace, and we’re dedicated to keeping you up to speed on all of it. Here’s what’s happening this week:
Football season is upon us, and this season, Central Arkansas brewers are taking advantage. Damgoode Brews is offering its Arkansas Amber Ale for $3 a pint every game day. This is one of Damgoode’s flagship beers that is always available at every location. The deal is good until football season is over.
Also, Flyway Brewing is hoping you cross the river into North Little Rock for gameday. This Saturday, Flyway is going Hog wild with a Pulled Pork Palooza event, featuring pulled pork nachos, sliders, and even a pulled pork soft pretzel served with baked bean salsa. Flyway is planning specials for every Razorback game, so keep your eyes peeled on their Facebook page. Can’t wait until then for your Flyway fix? Tonight, Flyway is hosting an “industry night” at Professor Bowl off Reservoir Drive from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature beer specials and food from Flyway’s menu to go along with your evening of bowling.
And finally, Lost Forty Brewing is hooking up your tailgate experience this week. Starting Wednesday, buy any mixed case of Lost Forty beer at the taproom and get a free beer tote, bandana and two koozies. If you buy a case of The Hunter, they’ll throw in a free beer stein. By the way, check back here next week for Lost Forty’s awesome Labor Day special. Lastly, I’m a sucker for a good coffee beer, and Lost Forty has its excellent version coming out today for Fresh Cut Monday. The brewery is bringing back its Cowboy Coffee Stout, a 6.1 percent ABV ale that dials back the bitterness and ups the deep-roasted coffee bean taste. No six-packs available, but Lost Forty will gladly sell you some to take home in growlers or crowlers.
Stone’s Throw Brewing has an active week ahead, including a sushi class for tonight that is already sold out. On Tuesday, it’s the monthly collaboration with The Southern Gourmasian for the “#5Beers5Bites” dinner (don’t miss the chance to win free tickets to that one). Then on Wednesday, the brewery is releasing its special Spamalot Elderberry Ale at the Arkansas Repertory Theater to celebrate the opening of the Spamalot musical. And on Friday, the Spamalot theme continues with “New Brew Friday,” when Stone’s Throw will release its 2 Swallows Coconut Brown Ale. Friday will also see the release of the Big Dam Horn O’Plenty Imperial Oktoberfest and a Barton British Standard beer. It all wraps up on Sunday with “WunderBrunch,” featuring the outstanding German food truck The WunderBus.
It’s been a busy few days for Rebel Kettle Brewing Company, as the brewery recently got the equipment in to double its capacity. This week, Rebel Kettle’s Growler Tuesday is a very small batch of the Wake N’Flake coffee and coconut cream stout. Only 20 32-ounce growlers will be available for $11 each. And for 4:30 Thursday, a pair of special releases are available with the Fuzzy Dice peach sour ale and the return of the brilliant Summer Jam raspberry sour saison. Both beers should be perfect for sipping on Rebel Kettle’s warm patio.
Josiah Moody with Moody Brews and Vino’s Brewpub has his third and final cask-conditioned Katchiri’s Bier release on tap right now. This version gets a spicy kick with fatalii peppers that will make your nose start sniffling. Also, Moody Brews has its Dunbar Gardenhouse ale available, which is a dry-hopped farmhouse ale made with wild yeast cultivated from Dunbar Community Garden.
