Growlers: Food and Foam Fest This Friday Night at Dickey-Stephens Park

This Friday, Dickey-Stephens Park once again plays host to the season’s top beer festival. Food and Foam Fest is back with hundreds of craft beer options and at least a dozen different food vendors. Each year, Food and Foam Fest showcases breweries from all over Arkansas and around the country. Here’s the rundown of Arkansas businesses you will see Friday:

  • Bike Rack Brewing Company
  • Blue Canoe Brewing Company
  • Buffalo Brewing Company
  • Core Brewing Company
  • Damgoode Brews
  • Flyway Brewing
  • Leap of Faith Brewing Company
  • Lost Forty Brewing
  • Ozark Beer Company
  • Rebel Kettle Brewing Company
  • Rock Town Distillery
  • Sidetracked Research Brewing
  • Steinforge Brewery
  • Stone’s Throw Brewing
  • Superior Bathhouse Brewery
  • Vino’s Pizza-Pub-Brewery

The list of Arkansas brewers alone is reason enough to get your ticket, but there are some exciting regional names that will be in attendance as well. Arkansas newcomers Dogfish Head out of Delaware will be on hand with some of their outstanding IPAs. Regional favorite Mother’s Brewing out of Springfield, Missouri, will also be at the festival, as will favorites like Oskar Blues, Sweetwater and Evil Twin Brewing.
Best of all, Food and Foam Fest supports a great cause. Proceeds from the festival will go to benefit Arthritis Foundation Arkansas, which works locally on research to prevent, control and hopefully cure arthritis. Tickets to Food and Foam Fest are still on sale, with general admission tickets starting at $40 and VIP tickets going for $65. VIP will get you into the festival at 5:15 where you can taste the best beers first, as well as get a free t-shirt and other merchandise. And above all, if you’re attending the festival, get a ride. Call an Uber or Lyft or a cab, or get a designated driver.
Besides Food and Foam Fest, Lost Forty Brewing is doing something brand new for its Freshcut Monday today. The brewery is tapping its Pilot Batch Cream Ale starting today at 4 p.m. This cream ale is a very light 4.5 percent ABV with some light fruit and floral notes that should pair wonderfully with spring. Pilot Batch Cream Ale is getting the full Lost Forty treatment; in addition to the taproom, Lost Forty is making it available to-go via growlers, crowlers and six-packs.
Before you go to Food and Foam Fest Friday, stop by Stone’s Throw Brewing for the taproom’s weekly #NewBrewFriday event. This Friday at 4 p.m., it’s a double release with Douglas MacArthur Dortmunder and the Mighty Wing collaboration with Flyway Brewing. Previously the Dortmunder Export, this renamed lager is an easy drinker at 5.5 percent ABV. It combines the mild hop notes of a pilsner with the malt backbone of a Helles brew for a beer that makes an ideal partner to warm weather. And Mighty Wing might be my favorite Little Rock beer collaboration story. Customers at Soulfish Café began ordering Flyway’s Bluewing and Stone’s Throw’s Jar the Floor peach saison mixed half-and-half. It got so popular, Flyway and Stone’s Throw decided to just brew it that way. That one likely won’t last long, so get to Stone’s Throw this weekend if you want to try it out.
