Food Blog Round-Up June 1

It’s time to celebrate summer with food and drink, at-home and at the restaurants. Thankfully Central Arkansas food bloggers have some tips and tricks ready just for you.
First off, Hello Luvvy’s Melinda Acewicz kicks off this week with a Watermelon Juice recipe that’s sure to keep you from wasting the summer favorite. Whether or not you like to salt your watermelon, this recipe is for you, as she says, “Let me tell you, this watermelon juice is delicious and takes no more than 5 minutes to make. In other words, it should be a part of your watermelon routine. Slice up watermelon for a cookout/dessert, and then enjoy the leftovers as juice for the days afterward.”
Want an at-home summer recipe that is perfect for entertaining? The Eggshells Blog has you covered. With patio season upon us, parties are happening at every juncture, and you most definitely want to be prepared. Chef Brian Kelly from a recent cooking class shares the fun recipe for a Crab Salad Stuffed Avocado with Citrus Vinaigrette. Don’t just take my word for it as this dish is bound to please everyone – “This dish is so versatile. Serve it as is in the avocado, on a bed of salad greens, or even in phyllo cups for a bite-sized appetizer. You can easily modify it with chicken or your choice of dressing, and it’s light and refreshing enough to serve during the dog days of summer.”
Maybe you’d like to try a different recipe, one harboring corn, a summer favorite. From the Arkansas Women’s Blogger’s Foodie Friday, the recipe for Crawfish Corn Bisque is one you’ll want to share. Blogger Karen Weido says, “On our most recent visit to Cajun country, my sister-in-law served Crawfish Corn Bisque. It was a recipe that had been given to her by a lady in their church, so I knew before I ever took my first bite that it was going to be delicious. And I was not disappointed.”
If you’d rather go out to eat, be sure to take a leaf out of Little Rock Foodcast’s Steve Shuler’s book. Shuler shares why we should fall in love with the Pantry Crest, if we haven’t already. He says, “I finally understand why Little Rock foodies flock to this place time and time again, and why people who move away fondly remember it. The Pantry Crest is a bright star in a city still finding its culinary heritage. It’s not a perfect restaurant, but on any given night, it is capable of magic.”
