The Blue Plate Special

Thea Foundation’s Blue Plate Special returns to the luxurious Capital Hotel with a fresh crop of Arkansas’s favorite chefs and mixologists, assisted by local artists, musicians and celebrities and accompanied by the music of the Dr. Danny Fletcher and Co. The Blue Plate Special is presented by MNB, a longtime supporter of the Thea Foundation and its mission of advocating and expanding the arts in Arkansas schools and beyond, and chaired by Mark Roberts, President of MNB.
“Education is a top priority at MNB,” Roberts said. “It’s of the utmost importance. We view what Thea Foundation is doing as a unique way to better the educational experiences for the students of Arkansas… We need to have kids who can express themselves, think critically and problem solve, and the arts facilitate that.”
This year’s chefs include: Matthew Bell, South on Main; Jeff Owen, Ciao Baci; Payne Harding, Cache Restaurant; Gilbert Alaquinez, Forty Two; Marc Guizol, Capital Bar and Grill; Brian Kearns, Simply the Best Catering; Stephen Burrow, Skye’s Bistro; Amanda Ivy, Old Mill Bread Bakery & Cafe; Mark Abernathy, Red Door; and Kelli Marks, Sweet Love. Mixologists are Ben Franks, of Petit & Keet; and Luiggi Uzcategui, of BIG ORANGE :: Midtown. Assisting the chefs and mixologists will be Renee Shapiro, reporter and film critic, KATV Channel 7; James Hayes, glass artist ; Chris Kane, anchor, KATV News; Genine LaTrice Perez- GLPSings, musician; Steve and Vicki Farrell, comedians, The Main Thing; Lisa Fischer, morning show host, B98.5 Radio in Little Rock; Rodney Block, musician; Jonathan Nettles, film critic, THV11; Michael Shaeffer, artist; Amy Garland Music, musician; Rusty Mathis, general manager, Ben E. Keith Foods Mid-South; and Greg Henderson, editor, Rock City Eats.
Proceeds from the Blue Plate Special will benefit Thea Foundation and support its mission to ensure that all Arkansas students have access to the arts. Additionally, the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation has offered a challenge grant of $25,000 to match the first $25,000 raised by the Blue Plate Special.
The Blue Plate Special is presented by MNB and sponsored by Ben E. Keith; Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits; and The Capital Hotel.
